The mechanical half of legal paperwork.

Numbering, deadlines, dates and the documents people sign themselves — done properly, in the browser, without an account.

What belongs in this group

Legal work splits into two halves that get confused with each other. One half is judgement: whether to settle, what a clause means, whether a claim is worth bringing. The other half is mechanical: does every page carry a number, is the deadline still alive, does the notice say the thing the statute requires it to say. The second half is where mistakes are cheap to make and expensive to find, and it is the only half a tool can honestly help with.

So nothing here gives advice. Everything here does arithmetic, applies a rule you supply, or assembles text from clauses that have been standard for decades. If a tool ever needs to know the law of your state to answer, it asks you for that rule instead of inventing one.

Numbering came first, for a reason

The most common costly error in document production is not a missing argument, it is a page that cannot be cited. A Bates number fixes that by giving every page a fixed-width identifier, so “turn to ABC-001482” means one page and only one page to everyone in the room. The convention is over a century old and the software that implements it is usually sold by the seat, which is why it was the first tool built for this section.

What these tools will not do

They will not tell you whether to sign, whether a clause is fair, or whether you have a claim. They will not choose a jurisdiction for you, and they will not fill in a statutory form that has to be filed in a specific court's format. What they will do is get the numbering, the dates and the standard wording right, quickly, without sending your documents anywhere.

Questions

Are the documents that come out of these tools legally binding?

A signed agreement is binding because the parties intend it to be, not because of the software that typed it. What a template cannot do is tell you whether the terms are right for your situation, whether a clause is enforceable where you live, or whether you needed a different document entirely. Treat the output as a well-drafted starting point and have someone qualified read it before it matters.

Which country's law do these follow?

None in particular, and that is deliberate. Numbering, page counts and date arithmetic are the same everywhere. Where a rule differs by jurisdiction — a limitation period, a notice requirement, a statutory formula — the tool asks you for the rule rather than guessing it for you.

Do you keep the documents I upload?

No. There is no upload. Files are opened in the browser tab, processed there, and the result is handed back as a download. Nothing is transmitted to a server, which is also why there is no file size limit on our side — the only ceiling is the memory of the device you are using.

Why are some of these free and others limited?

The arithmetic ones are free with no counter: they cost nothing to run and they are useful enough that people come back. The ones that process a file are free three times a day, on the first two pages, and All-Access removes both limits. That is the whole pricing model — there is no subscription.
